The “picture war” on Lucerne’s wooden bridge

If you walk along the Chapel Bridge these days you can see 8 of “the copies”.
They'll hang there till the end of October 2014 and they shall help the Lucerne inhabitants to make up their minds on what to vote on 30. November 2014.

In short terms the story goes like that:
About 70% of the original pictures burnt down in 1993.
A private man and art sponsor engaged professionals to make copies.
He offered to hang up the copies on the bridge at no cost for the city of Lucerne.
The city council said: No thanks, the quality of the pictures is not good enough.
The art sponsor took it further and now we are to vote on that.
